When it's time to throw away your nail polish?

I always thought that nail polish would last forever and not deteriorate, but I was wrong. Although there is no specified shelf life for nail polish, it is determined by the company. Nail polish usually lasts 18 to 24 months if kept in a cool place.

It is easy to tell if your nail polish has gone bad and then simply throw it away after 2 years. Especially if it is one of those expensive bottles! However, there is a very simple way to know if your nail polish has gone bad!

If your nail polish has gone bad, the texture of your polish is a dead giveaway. If your nail polish has become thick and sticky, and basically hard to take care of, then your polish has probably gone bad. When nail polish goes bad, it's hard to create an even coat that doesn't look caked on.

There's no easier luxury than giving yourself a manicure with your favorite nail polish. But if that bottle has been on your shelf for a while, you might be ignoring all the signs that it's time to throw away your nail polish. And remember, if you're totally emotionally attached to a particular shade, you can always buy more!

How to tell if your nail polish is stale or expired

a. Check your label

The safest way to know if your polish is safe to use is to check its label.

Most polishes will have the PAO symbol on them, such as 12m, 18m or 24m, with the m representing the number of months and the number representing the number of months.

Now, if it is 18m, it means that your polish has been tested to be safe for use within 18 months of opening the bottle.

b.Look at the color

Now, if the color of your polish is different from when you originally purchased it, you should consider throwing it away or if you have time to try to fix it, you can read on to learn how to fix it.

c. Check the texture and consistency

If you find that your polish is chunkier and thicker than usual, this is a clear indication that the polish is no longer up to par. A lumpy and thick polish will make the polish harder to apply.

d. Its odor

One of the last signs that your nail polish has gone bad is whether it has a very pungent odor, which is completely different from its usual smell.

If your nail polish has an unpleasant odor, I recommend that you throw it away; these polishes cannot be revitalized.

If you take special care of the bottle, you can use these tips to make your nail polish last forever.

1. Store them in a cool, light-free place

2. Clean the nail polish bottle with acetone. (nail polish remover)

Help your nail polish last, maybe even forever, it really is that simple! (If you haven't run out of it by then!)
