I always thought that nail polish would last forever and not deteriorate, but I was wrong. Although there is no specified shelf life for nail polish, it is determined by the company. Nail polish usually lasts 18 to 24 months if kept in a cool place.

It is easy to tell if your nail polish has gone bad and then simply throw it away after 2 years. Especially if it is one of those expensive bottles! However, there is a very simple way to know if your nail polish has gone bad!

If your nail polish has gone bad, the texture of your polish is a dead giveaway. If your nail polish has become thick and sticky, and basically hard to take care of, then your polish has probably gone bad. When nail polish goes bad, it's hard to create an even coat that doesn't look caked on.

There's no easier luxury than giving yourself a manicure with your favorite nail polish. But if that bottle has been on your shelf for a while, you might be ignoring all the signs that it's time to throw away your nail polish. How to tell if your nail polish is stale or expired

The safest way to know if your polish is safe to use is to check its label.

Most polishes will have the PAO symbol on them, such as 12m, 18m or 24m, with the m representing the number of months and the number representing the number of months.

Now, if it is 18m, it means that your polish has been tested to be safe for use within 18 months of opening the bottle.
